New Year, New Blog

This little blog of mine will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s where I’ve chronicled many happy moments from some of the best years of my life- college, study abroad, and much more. This blog has been a little sanctuary for me- a happy place amidst all the change. The time has come, however, to move onto bigger and better things. My lifelong best friend and I have started a lifestyle blog together where we’ll be posting daily Monday-Friday.

I’d be delighted if you’d visit me over at 27 Surls. Thank you so much for reading, for sending messages, and for supporting me over the years. The blog community is truly the best.

This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often. If you don’t like something, change it.
If you don’t like your job, quit. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, all emotions are beautiful. Life is simple. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating. Life is short. Live your dream and wear your passion.

For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

Anyone going on a fun trip anytime soon? I have another month of my internship before I get any time off, but my family and I are heading down south right when I wrap up. We’ll be heading to Tennessee for a family wedding, then to the mountains of North Carolina for a few days of hiking, swimming, tennis, reading, croquet-ing, etc. I would love to pack my things in any one of these weekenders. The Tumi is my favorite looks-wise, but the Lo & Sons seems the most practical because of its cleverly thought-out design.

I haven’t bought any new clothes lately as I’m on a new diet-and-workout regimen and am hoping my size will change. Therefore, I’ve turned to accessories to punch up my look. I’ve always shied away from color, but I’m starting to incorporate it into my looks little by little. I started with a colorful bracelet like this one from Calypso, and I’m about to order the necklace above from Anthropologie. Life is about challenging yourself and growing, right?

I temporarily attempted quitting my Diet Coke addiction, but after two weeks, I decided it wasn’t worth it. I’m back on the sauce. I’ve been having my first of the day at 9 AM eeek. I know it’s bad for you and blah blah blah, but my philosophy is that there are far worse things for you than Diet Coke. At least it’s not heroin, cigarettes, bath salts, etc.

Anyway, I’ve been trying to drink more water lately so I can keep my Diet Coke consumption to like 3 (bottles) a day. I’m not a huuuge fan of water, so giving it a little natural flavor makes it much more appealing to me. Cucumber water is my favorite. I’ve just been throwing sliced fruit into a plastic pitcher, but I think I need one of the pitchers featured above. They look so useful, and I like how the fruit doesn’t contaminate the water. Must have for my first ever apartment I’m moving into at school this fall (!!!!!).
